“A warm welcome”
My stay at The Sumner was everything you could hope for when away from home. Friendly staff, from reception to the cleaning staff. I especially enjoyed the relaxed home-like feel, particularly the lounge space with books and an iMac. The buffet breakfast included in the room charge was an excellent spread. I highly recommend this hotel.

“Clean and Great Location”
The location is excellent - close to the Marble Arch, subways, buses, sightseeing tour buses, and shopping on Oxford. It is well maintained. Complimentary internet. Complimentary breakfast includes eggs, bacon or sausage, toast, bagels, croissants, cereals, etc.......plenty. The only thing missing, was towel bars to hang shower and hand towels (pretty minor critique really). We would certainly stay there again!

“Pleasant surprise in the heart of London”
The Sumner is on a quiet street a few blocks north of Oxford Street near Marble Arch, a prime location, close to everything. Our room was large, clean and comfortable, and though it faced the street, it was very quiet. It cost half of what the nearby hotels cost, and the price included a continental breakfast. Service was friendly and first-rate. I would definitely go back. It's an excellent choice, quality-wise and dollar-wise.

“Great little gem”
Lovely hotel in a great location tucked away behind Marble Arch. Quirky building with very nice design. Above all the staff were fantastic - all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and was very good with lots of choice and again the staff were delightful. Will definitely stay again.

“Great hotel! Feels like home :)”
Stayed there for 3 nights with my mom.
From the first moment we got to the hotel we realized we made an excellent choice.
The lobby is cosy and carefully designed. The staff were helpful and welcoming.
The rooms are not very not so big but the bed is huge and amazing! One of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on.The breakfast is simple and nice.
Plus, just on the corner of the street there is a local pub that serves great food and drink.
We will defiantly go back to The Sumner Hotel! :)

“A Fabulous Find”
After hours of research online looking for a reasonably priced hotel near Oxford Street, I had almost given up when I came across The Sumner. What a perfect hotel: around the corner from all the shops but on a very quiet street; spotlessly clean, lovely generous room; free breakfast and wifi with a staff that couldn't do enough to be helpful. They are also for London a very good price. I'd never stay anywhere else.

“our favorite hotel in a great location”
We have visited London many times and this is our favorite hotel because of its central location near the Marble Arch action--the tour buses that we use for transportation and Hyde Park--and the comfortable, clean room. We tend to be picky about elements of the accommodations like the shower or the bed or the heating/AC so we found this hotel to be great and also a good value. We had a wonderful breakfast and a lovely complimentary tea provided by the staff, who were all very helpful. We found several nice places in our neighborhood to have drinks, pub food or restaurant dinners so we never had to take a cab or other transportation at night. We plan to return to the Sumner for our next visit.

“Nice cosy & quiet hotel with super friendly staff”
This hotel located near to Oxford street and two underground stops of the main shopping area is very quiet and very confortable. The staff is super friendly and always willing to help. The room was quiet, confortable and clean. Congratulations to the cleaning staff ! Only very small negative point is the light of the corridor shining al through the night into the framework of the door into the room. Breakfast was satisfying except for the no frigerated milk products. A superb hotel and hotel service. For us no doubt : when coming to London, Sumner is our hotel.

“Lovely cozy hotel”
We just left the Sumner and have no complaints at all. Free wi-fi and free breakfast was great. The hotel is beautifully done everything seems fresh and new. The location is good - basically around the corner from Oxford Street shopping, the Marble Arch tube station, and not far at all from Buckingham Palace. My only suggestion is that the hotel should refrigerate or set their juices and milk on ice because unless you are down for breakfast at 6am they are unpleasantly warm. Other than that we loved the Sumner and will definitely stay again!

“What a perfect cozy hotel..”
I stayed here for a business trip in london. I finally understood the meaning of a Boutique Hotel. It was small cozy and comfortable, none of the rush or ques you normally have in the busier bigger hotels. I loved the personal touches, the fact that staff know you, remember you...
I was a bit of a pain for the staff i'm sure, but they were so very helpful, told me about the places, how to get there, had the right local knowledge. The price was good for the location, i saved on taxies and transport just being there!
With complimentary Tea and Coffee and a very nice lounge to relax in i couldnt ask for me. i spent hours in the lounge catching up on my work, it was almost like a home away from home, just a bit more lavish i suppose;)
Thank you everyone at Sumner, I will be back!

“The best experience ever”
My mother in law and I stayed in Sumner for a five days and we are totally in love with this place. We work in the art trade, travel a lot and came to London very often. We have stayed in the plenty of different hotels there but never had so pleasant experience as at the Sumner. For us the location was great, close to the tube and plenty buses at the Marbel Arch, lovely neighborhood with small fancy shops and quality restaurants nearby. Very quiet but close enough to the busy Oxford street if someone wants to spend the day between Selfidges and M&S )).The staff is extremely nice, helpful and intelligent.Every one from the hotel manager to the waitress are especially friendly and unobtrusively ready to help. Complimentary tee when you came back at the evening at the small lobby designed as a living room makes you feel almost home. Free WiFi helps you to save almost 30 pounds a day if you need constant use of internet and even more if you need to make several international calls since you are able to do it from your room using Skype. ( Most of the hotels provide free WiFi only at the lobby). Impressible clean and very well maintained. The standard room is not big but enough for two. I will definitely recommend it to my friends and hope to stay there during my next visit to London.

“Absolutely love the Sumner!”
Spent three nights in late September at the Sumner. My husband's first trip there (I've been several times before to visit relatives) so I wanted a place that was well-located, quiet and very comfortable. I did a lot of research on Tripadvisor looking for a hotel with free wifi, breakfast included (these two items save one a significant amount of money and time), air conditioning (it was still quite warm in London), and an elevator (we`re a little beyond trudging up and down many flights of stairs). The Sumner stood out amongst all the others I read about, so booked it over the phone with a very friendly staff member.
The location is fantastic--close to tube and bus stops, and good areas to walk. Feels very safe. A bonus for us were the many fabulous Lebanese restaurants in the area, as we enjoy the food which is so freshly prepared with healthy ingredients, yet so beautifully flavoured.
As soon as we walked into the Sumner (thoroughly exhausted and jet-lagged), we felt at home. The lobby is decorated beautifully and is very `homey`and cozy. The staff were so welcoming and right away sent coffee and biscuits up to our room for us. Our room was on the quiet side (ie not the street side) which was great. Even with the window open (and I like to have windows that open!), we slept peacefully. The room was small by North American standards of course, but very clean, modern, and comfortable. Lovely bathroom.
The breakfast was good--lots of choice for what we wanted. You could order a cooked breakfast in addition to all the other cold things. The breakfast staff were lovely.
At first I was a little disappointed that there were no coffee making things in the room, however, it turned out to be a blessing! That`s because we could call down to reception whenever we wanted and they would send up a lovely tray with coffee or tea and biscuits. We always ordered this as soon as we woke up in the morning, as we are coffee addicts and like to drink it while getting ready for the day. We would also order tea when we got back from a day of sightseeing. This free service made us feel very pampered and was an appreciated luxury.
The cost, by our North American standards, was high, but, by London standards very good indeed. I had purchased a Rick Steves guidebook to London just before I left and, once in London, noticed that the Sumner was listed in the recommended hotels. It also said that, on presentation of the RS guidebooks, one could get 20% off the price. I took this to the front desk a day after our arrival and the offer was honoured! This was a significant saving.
Would recommend the Sumner highly to anyone looking for a hotel with character, excellent service, great location, and a quiet comfortable stay.

“Perfect small hotel”
My husband and stayed a few days at the Sumner in November 2009. When 3 of my friends and I decided to go to London we of course chose the Sumner again. Apparently the hotel has a new owner(since -09) and perhaps this makes the stay even better!! We had the 2 King Rooms in the basement, which at first disapointed me. However the rooms are large and one can open the windows and we were not disturbed by the breakfast-room. It is such a cosy hotel and friendly. You are greeted with a smile always and every time we came back from our "outings" we were asked if we wanted something to drink. I just love the Sumner!!

“Fantastic Small Hotel”
My husband and I have just returned from a weekend away in London and stayed at this lovely hotel. The hotel is conveniently situated round the corner from Marble Arch, just far enough away from the hustle and bustle to be in a quiet location. We had a lovely king size room in the basement, which was roomy and clean. The breakfast was great with a good choice of either cooked or continental - something for everyone. We would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to stay quite centrally in London and when we are next there will most certainly stay there again. Thanks to all the staff for making it a special weekend.

“Gorgeous Boutique Hotel”
I recently stayed at The Sumner for one night whilst attending a Wedding and found the hotel staff to be absolutely amazing with a 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude that you don't come across as often as you should! The breakfast was excellent with every taste surely catered for and my large family room was very clean and comfortable. Thank you to all of the staff that we came into contact with for making this overnight stay very relaxing. We would love to stay at The Sumner again!

“Wonderful small hotel!”
I've been to the Sumner for a business trip. The hotel is 3 minutes from the oh-so-amazing Hyde park, 2 minutes from the colorful Oxford street and the Marble Arch underground station. That's 5 points for location!
Rooms are, as the hotel itself - small, yet very efficient, well-designed and clean. The WC room and shower are 5 stars plus... it really looks like these guys have invested money over there. That's 5 stars for the room! Hosting and breakfast is more than I could asked for - really nice reception guys, nice relaxing music in the lobby and fresh continental breakfast [as a breakfast fan - they did not go cheap on the ingredients]. That's 5 stars for the Hotel!

“A lovely little boutique hotel...”
This small but perfectly formed hotel is a mere five minutes walk from Marble Arch and Oxford Street. It's beautifully decorated, immaculately clean throughout, and thanks to efficient secondary glazing the rooms are quiet despite overlooking the street. We were upgraded on arrival (excellent!) and we appreciated the charming staff and elegant ambiance.Others have mentioned the windowless breakfast room, but the breakfast was first class, with fluffy scrambled eggs and a huge choice of fruit etc. (slight corner-cutting on the quality of the sausages I thought, but then I'm a sausage fan.) As the hotel is within Westminster Council's purlieu, those arriving by car will have to deal with its Byzantine parking arrangements (we gave up halfway through trying to register.) But The Sumner itself? It sets a high standard, and for its location, offers pretty good value.

“An excellent hotel very close to Marbel Arch”
A littel hotel in the center of London with a friendly staff willing to help you. Nice and clean rooms and a very good breakfast. Fantastic for any trip to London. You have a minibar but if you want either tea or coffee they serve you at the room.

“Lovely small hotel”
We just stayed at the hotel and were thrilled with everything about the hotel. The staff was very helpful - the men at night, the women during the day and the lovely young woman who worked in the breakfast room. We had a spacious room with 2 twin beds - the only improvement would be to add a clock to the room!

“Excellent Small hotel near Hyde Park”
This hotel is located just a short walk form Hyde Park. It is equally convenient to the subway. The rooms are spacious for a small hotel in a large city. Similarly the bathroom was also a good size with an large shower. The staff were extremely helpful. There was some noice on the street at night but htat was because the neighborhood had some very nice and busy cafes which was a nice feature of the location. .

“weekend break”
My husband & I stayed at the Sumner Hotel on the May bank holiday weekend 2012. This was a gift given me by our children for my birthday. I must say they chose a lovely friendly hotel & well situated too as we were close to the tube & lots of good eating places etc. The staff were very helpful & friendly & the breakfast set us up nicely for the day. I would definitely recommend the Sumner as the place to stay for anyone travelling to london

“The Perfect”
The staff, the location, the size of the hotel, the comfort of the rooms and the breakfasts made our 7 night stay in London "the perfect" place to return to and the end of each day. We were a group of 6 of 11 women visiting London from across Canada. We became better friends by the end of our stay as a result of sahring a glass of wine in the small reception room. The staff were so accommodating with regards to cabs, luggage, questions about the city and other arrangments.

Our room was very nice and cosy, with beautiful interior, lounge was very warm and cosy. Tea and Coffee was served free with crisp, tea cakes and cookies from M and S. Hot breakfast english and continental breakfast was served with great variety of cheese also served with hot and cold drinks. “Excellent stay in London! Great location!”
My mom and I stayed at the Sumner for about a week and loved it! The location is great, right next to Hyde Park and close to the tube station. We also enjoyed the restaurants nearby, The Portman in particular (delicious!), and found it very nice that we could eat out close to our hotel some nights. Our rate included breakfast, and the breakfast was tasty! It was very nice to get our fill before starting our day. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The room we stayed in was great: clean, comfortable, and perfect size for the two of us. The bathroom was impeccably clean and tiled nicely; much better than a lot of boutique hotel's bathrooms in London and Europe. I've already recommended this hotel to friends that are venturing there soon and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting London. Excellent hotel!

“Excellent hotel, smashing location”
Just came back from London after spending 3 nights at the Sumner.
Before booking the hotel, I used Tripadvisor to identify the ideal hotel based on three criterias: Location, standard and price.
The Sumner was the optimum choice. The location was perfect just at the corner of Hyde Park, with only some hundred meters to the tube station Marble Arch. Staff at the hotel was very polite and helpful, excellent service indeed with coffee and tea served at the rooms free of charge. Breakfast was not extravagant, but a nice mixture of cold and warm food served us well.
The price was not low, but a lot of value for the money compared to alternatives!
All in all I would highly recommend the hotel, and for sure I am gonna come back!!

“Delightful boutique hotel”
The Sumner is a delightful boutique hotel which is conviently located for visiting central London. We stayed there for five days after returning from a bus tour of the Cotswolds. Very nice, pleasant and very helpful staff who project a desire to please (they really try to deliver). The buffet breakfast is varied for many tastes, and had a good fruit selection which I really appreciated. Our room was very beautifully furnished and was maintained very well during our stay by housekeeping. My only complaint about the room is that I prefer feather pillows to foam ones.

“This is how a hotel should be run.”
We were three couples travelling together in London in early September to celebrate one couple`s 50th wedding anniversary. The service from the hotel, from Rohit, the manager, to the cleaning staff was professionel and effecient. More than effecient-outstanding.
They seemed to enjoy their work and were extremely friendly without being familiar. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. The breakfasts, served buffet style, were large and very well prepared. They could not have been more accomodating. Rohit even walked us to St. Christopher`s place to make sure we would find it.
For the price, we do not think the Sumner can be beat. We would go so far to say that even if price were no object, we would stay at the Sumner over any other hotel in London.
We enjoyed London a great deal due in no small part to the staff at the Sumner. Source: Trip Advisor

“Supertrivelig hotell!”
We spent a hot post-olympics august weekend in this tiny hotel in a quiet street off Oxford Street. Fab staff, fab rooms with quiet air-con, complementary water and wifi in the room. Really really nice room: huge bed and fresh bathroom. Cool library with books, a mac and free snacks. Nice! Decent buffet breakfast. Good variety of freshly cut fruit and vegetables.
Quite a few cool non-chain shops nearby and a very nice and friendly pub next door. Excellent location for shopping and west end fun. Got a good deal through hotels.com.

“absolutely perfect”
Upon my arrival for the Olympics, I had no idea of what to expect. I have stayed in London on previous trips and stayed at the large "chain hotels". I was very surprised to find the perfect location (two blocks from the metro,Hyde park, and shopping on Oxford Street)...the Sumner.
My room was facing the street but the room was sound proof. Larger than expected, very clean and well kept. The free breakfast was excellent. But the real positive was the staff, led by Ricardo Andrade. He would greet all the guests each evening returning from the Olympic venues and always made sure any care or concern was handled. Every day the staff quickly and knowlegably would help with directions, reservations, and suggestions.
I would recommend to anyone this is an outstanding boutique hotel with a great location and outstanding staff....I will be back soon.
